Ganaël found out about early music when he had to play in The Fairy Queen by Purcell while studying organ in the Conservatory in Reims (FR).
At the time, he had no idea how to play chords upon a bass but that experience was a true initiation and gave him the will to learn how to play harpsichord and basso continuo. Although now focusing on XVth to XVIIIth century music, his ears are also open to all sorts of jazz music as well as popular music. His studies took him from his home town in the south of France to Paris where he obtained a Bachelor degree in organ at the Paris Conservatory (CNSMDP), and finally to Brussels where he met his other colleagues of BarrocoTout while studying for his Master’s degree in harpsichord at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussels.
He is also playing for other ensembles as well as engaging in various pedagogical activities. And given his quite curious and enthusiastic nature, he also began studying two new instruments : theorbo and sackbut!
