Inspired by Muchachada Nui’s “Barroco Tú” (“Baroque yourself”) sketch, we had the crazy idea of starting a baroque ensemble named BarrocoTout. In 2013 this idea came true in the heart of Europe, Brussels.
We are four musicians specialised in historically informed performance practices and we seek our own sound as a quartet. We want to explore the work written for this formation by well-known composers but also to discover other composers which have fallen into oblivion. We create cross-genre productions and programmes with a story, where music and other arts are combined.
The Spanish character and French style give us a natural richness. Our origins, personalities and backgrounds are diverse and this is reflected in our playing and we offer the public a refreshing experience.
In 2015 we were selected for the program EEEmerging from Ccr Ambronay for 2 years. We have played in festivals such as York Early Music Festival (UK), Semana de Música Antigua de Estella SMADE (ES), Festival Muisque Baroque En Famenne-Ardenne MUBAFA (BE), Festival Son ar Mein (FR), Festival d’Ambronay (FR), Faboulous Fringe Festival Oude Muziek (NL), Internationale Händel-Festspiele Göttingen (GE), Festival Musiqu’3 (BE), Festival de Musique de Chambre à l'Abbaye Musicale de Malonne (BE) and Riga Early Music Center (LV), and in music halls like Concertgebouw Brugge, Bozar Brussels, MIM Brussels, Parlement Bruxellois or Auditorium National de Lyon among others.
In 2016 we won the Fringe Audience Award in the Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Sinfonietta Competition. In 2017 we won the Main Prize of the International Young Artists Competition in York. In 2018 we recorded our first CD with Linn Records La Sonate Égarée, an album dedicated to the Belgian composer Henri-Jacques de Croes.
